Summary

BOSS stores the information needed to run and restore your company simulation. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

1. What we collect

Player identity

BOSS uses its own Firebase account for Apple, Google, or email sign-in. We process a provider identifier and the email or profile information you choose to share so you can restore your company across devices.

Game content and progress

We store the names and descriptions you enter, your company state, products, employees, decisions, results, conversations, notifications, and company history.

Purchases and subscriptions

BOSS offers optional in-app purchases of cosmetic map style looks (single items and bundles, bought once) and the optional BOSS Club auto-renewing subscription. They change how you look only. On iPhone and iPad, Apple processes the payment through the App Store; on Android test builds, Google Play processes it. Our server verifies each purchase with the store. We store your BOSS player identifier, the product identifier, store transaction identifiers, purchase, renewal and expiry dates, subscription status, and the platform (iOS or Android). BOSS never receives your card or other payment details.

Analytics and crash reports

The app sends product analytics and crash reports to PostHog. This includes screen views, the kind of game action you take (for example “auction bid” or “offer sent”), app opened, sign-in and sign-out events, crash and error reports, and app version, build, platform, operating system and device model. These events are linked to an opaque BOSS account identifier. They never include your name, email, company name, handle, message text, amounts, property or deal identifiers, sign-in tokens, advertising identifiers or precise location, and session replay is off. We use this only to fix crashes and improve the game, never for advertising or tracking across other apps. You can turn it off in the app under Help & settings → Share usage and crash reports.

Device and technical information

If you enable notifications, we store a push token and device platform so we can send game updates. Our servers may also process standard connection information, such as IP address, request time, and error details, to operate and secure the service.

2. How we use information

  • Run the simulation and save your progress.
  • Restore your company when you return or change devices.
  • Generate employee replies, situations, offers, and product cost estimates.
  • Send notifications you have enabled.
  • Verify purchases with Apple or Google, restore them on your devices, and show the looks you own or BOSS Club while it is active.
  • Resolve billing problems.
  • Diagnose crashes and understand which parts of the game are used, as described under Analytics.
  • Prevent abuse, investigate errors, and keep BOSS secure.

3. Who processes information

We share information only with service providers needed to run BOSS:

  • Firebase, Apple, and Google support account sign-in. Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) process any purchases you choose to make, under their own privacy policies.
  • PostHog receives the analytics and crash reports described above.
  • Expo delivers push notifications.
  • OpenRouter and selected AI model providers process limited game context and player-written conversation text to generate in-game content. We do not send platform authentication secrets to AI providers.
  • Hosting and database providers store and deliver the service.

Other players see your company's net worth and rich-list rank by default. You can hide them with the switch in the app. Your individual cash and transactions always stay private.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer.

4. Your choices

  • Turn push notifications off in your device settings.
  • Turn analytics and crash reports off in Help & settings → Share usage and crash reports.
  • Hide your net worth and rich-list rank with the switch in the app (Help, or the rich list).
  • Close a company and use your remaining in-game funds to start again. The first $25,000 grant is issued only once per player.
  • Export your data from Profile → Export my data.
  • Delete your full account from Profile → Delete account and data, or see our account deletion page.

Closing a company does not issue another starting grant. Account deletion removes private player data, while a pseudonymous record of the used grant remains to prevent repeat grants.

5. Retention and security

We keep account and game data while your account is active. We remove or anonymize it after you delete your account. We retain a limited pseudonymous record that a starting grant was used, even after account deletion, to prevent repeated grants. We may also retain limited store transaction records to prevent fraud, avoid processing a purchase twice, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. We keep these records only as long as needed for those purposes. We use access controls, encrypted connections, and secure device storage for session credentials. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Deleting your BOSS account does not delete purchase records held by Apple or Google; those remain subject to the store’s own privacy and retention policies. Deleting data does not cancel BOSS Club; cancel it in your App Store account settings (or Google Play on Android test builds).

6. Children

BOSS is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

7. International processing

Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

8. Policy changes

We may update this policy when BOSS or its providers change. We will post the new date here and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your rights.
